Church Fellowship

TTChurch Fellowship helps meet man’s need for companionship.   God uses fellowship and the church to strengthen the Christian and to accomplish His work in the world.  From the time of Adam’s creation, God saw, “It is not good that the man should be alone” (Gen.2:18).  God’s initial solution was to establish the institution of marriage.  However, man’s need for fellowship goes beyond marriage.  He needs others with whom to grow in Christ and to serve.  Every Christian needs church and fellowship.

Our fellowship in the church is much more valuable than fellowship for other purposes because God’s presence makes it different.  Christ established the principle that where two or three are gathered together in His name, there He would be in the midst of them. This makes our time with God’s people very special.  Fellowshipping with the saints around the things of God is actually a way for us to fellowship with God Himself because He also meets with us when we come together.

When Paul and Barnabas returned to Antioch to report all that God had done with them, the Bible says that they gathered the church together.  This means that the church was not a building or an organization but the people themselves.  The people are the church.  God established the church so that we could meet together, worship Him together, grow together, fellowship together, work together and pray together.  God could have just let us do these things on our own or in our separate families, but He didn’t.  He knew that we would need the fellowship of other saints to live healthy spiritual lives.
